Calls to the strike for March 19
Trade unions call for a broad mobilization interprofessional Thursday, March 19, to try, as January 29, to influence government policy and business on employment and wages when the crisis deepens with the spread of layoffs.
Unions hope to mobilize greater than the strike on January 29, which was attended by between 1 and 2.5 million people.
- In the public sector, the Inter-called 5.2 million public servants of state, local and hospital to show, including asking for "stopping the blind policy of job losses and a moratorium immediate impact on those in the 2009 budget. " According to official figures, 25% of employees were on strike on January 29.
- Transport
SNCF: all unions call for strike Wednesday 20 am to 8:00 Friday, rejecting the "multiple reorganizations" in progress. Traffic forecasts are not yet disclosed. 40% of workers went on strike Feb. 29.
RATP: four out of eight unions (CGT, CFDT, FOR and SUD) called the strike against six on January 29. Others favor the transport of protesters in the Ile-de-France. The strike notice of the CGT 22 h runs from Wednesday 30 to Friday 6 am 30. On 29 January, despite a strong mobilization, the Paris transport had generally worked.
Air France: eight unions called the strike, but management does not provide "a priori no disturbance" of traffic. On January 29, the strike of some of the air traffic controllers led to the cancellation of many flights.
- Education
Seven federations call staff from kindergarten to the university to strike to demand an end to job cuts and report the educational goals of the government. On 29 January, more than half the teachers were on strike. In universities, the strike of teachers and researchers has lasted for over two months.

Total: CGT and CFDT unions called the strike against the 555 job cuts in France after a record profit of 13.9 billion euros in 2008.
Rhodia: CGT calls a strike against "flexibility measures" and said that six buses leave in protest of the Saint-Fons (Rhône) against 5 January 29, to join the employees of other chemical groups, Bluestar and Arkema.
Automotive: calls to stop work were launched at Renault and Peugeot, from a union of some sites to complete an Inter others.
- Services
Private health and social sector: four federations (CGT, CFTC, FOR and CFE-CGC) casually refer to the strike, expressing their anger against the draft revision of the collective agreement.
Commercial: CFDT, CFTC, CFE-CGC, CGT and FOR call "VRP, technical sales, sales management, sellers and other business to get involved in the development of real jobs face the precarious".
Journalists: the Inter-called the strike a profession "collapsing under the work." Strike call in all categories of public broadcasting.
