Dog Creole: Elie, can you come back to the way the LKP was formed?
Elie Domota: The success of the LKP does not just happen. It's been six years since the unions are working together to develop a platform of defending the working class. Even longer, we used to get together to prepare the terms of the unit marches May 1 (leaflet, paths, etc.).. So we know each other well. At the same time, each organization was working with others on specific projects. My example, I am Secretary General of the UGTG, we worked a lot with Mouvman Nonm, the Committee of mutual cultural association Akyio, etc.. On different themes such as 1801, 1802, 1967. Many groups as we worked.
CC: What was the trigger, if one were to name one, which makes the LKP has finally taken shape?
Elie Domota: Six years, we could not agree, and then beginning in December 2008, we met again. The situation was so bad for workers, this time it stuck, it has become necessity. The strength of the LKP, is that we are a conglomerate of different views that exist, allow a global approach to problems of our society. The struggle of the workers feed the workers' struggle. The important thing is that beyond the leaders of various organizations, union takes place at the base and in action. This is for workers to congregate.
CC: How do you think this movement has been able to hold you it-so long?
Elie Domota: If we had 44 days of general strike, because it is already Guadeloupe is resistant nature. When he enters a fight is to win, and then it's pretty arrogant to not stop along the way. Solidarity has been thoroughly, parents, friends, everyone helped each other. Farmers gave us a lot of food. There is even a restaurant that has just given us a steer on foot! Moreover, we have to find him a place to graze ... was held because he is a popular movement.
CC: Do you think that a union of this magnitude is possible in the hexagon?
Elie Domota: Of course, everything has to start. We have never even thought it would be like this, nor that we would so long! This is where we said that all these events made for 6 years, these meetings have borne fruit, as it is on the basis of these discussions that gradually took shape what would become the platform of demands of the LKP. The bosses and the state agreed to the summit and organized. The workers can not afford to face them piecemeal.
CC: How do you analyze the state of social forces in the hexagon?
Elie Domota: I do not think they are down. I just think that we must be bold. Workers believe but the leaders of different organizations are too many calculations. Head must starts a little back and let the workers take matters in hand. Today we can see that logic dictates that there is more money for the rich while the workers are only entitled to redundancy. They have no choice but to return to fight.
CC: What reading do you give to what just happened? Is this the start of construction of a new model of society?
Elie Domota: I think it is not there yet. Say that there is a yearning for something else, which is looking for. Now, it remains to materialize in a vision, with a project, written analysis. Everyone should participate in Guadeloupe and it will decide the path they want to follow.
CC: Critics say that the LKP advance masked and in fact its only real purpose is and the independence of Guadeloupe.
Elie Domota: I am Secretary General of the UGTG, a union which is defined as independence from day one, but the LKP brings together 49 organizations, parties, trade unions, which have very different views. So we are not there. Because I'll tell you, if only on the basis of the platform of the LKP, we must seek independence, I will not even me! (Laughs)
CC: After that, do you plan to found a party?
Elie Domota: No, I have no political ambition.

CC: Another point of misunderstanding or even rupture, compared to the platform, was for some people the question of priority in hiring for Guadeloupe. It is true that, as I already have written on Dogs Creole, the claim does not specify whether it is equally qualified or not, and leaves some ambiguity. So, being equal or not?
Elie Domota: But it's obvious. We will not ask a butcher to work just as a surgeon on the grounds that it would Guadeloupe! This one does not understand, for example, is that recruitment agencies based in Jarry ads do seem hiring managers directly to Paris, but here there are good people but unemployed. That's what we are condemning, but of course we are talking about hiring priority for Guadeloupe equal competence.
CC: Nicolas Sarkozy promised the States General in Guadeloupe, you find that it is something positive?
Elie Domota: First I will tell you that the States General of Guadeloupe, they were already started by our action and reflection. And we remain cautious. We have already heard so many promises on the part of the state. Moreover, given the very short time before it starts, I wonder how are you able to organize and how relevant ...
CC: How do you take the fact that the floor of Pointe-à-Pitre put you back to back with Alain Huygues-Despointes, the beke of Martinique, who spoke about racial purity. You are both the subject of complaint for incitement to racial hatred, to vindicate him of a racist and discriminatory, to condemn you!
Elie Domota: I think specifically it aims to whiten Huygues-Despointes, so to speak! It's a way to relativize the allegation made against him. My remarks have only reflect a social and historical reality. So I am serene.
CC: Between us, it's even a gift that makes you the floor, it offers you a great forum!
Elie Domota: (Smiles) Yes, it's true. A lawyer told me yesterday that there is no great social movement without great trial. It will be an opportunity to review many things. I also request that the trial be televised. Many lawyers already contacted me. This afternoon, even Ségolène Royal called me to offer to join the group of lawyers who will defend myself. I did not even know she was a lawyer!
CC: How do you take the various attacks, sometimes very virulent you are sent on this or other?
Elie Domota: Yesterday, I announced that I intended to sue for defamation. In Guadeloupe, we are so used to being despised that cash without flinching, you end up finding that normal. But I told myself, even when Frédéric Lefebvre can call me Uncle macoute, as journalists call me a terrorist, it's not normal! Le Figaro, is a guy, it's not possible, I think one of Guadeloupe has him biting his girlfriend because he has such hatred every time he wrote about us! I see no other explanation!
