Message of solidarity to progressive parties and movements and popular Guadeloupe and Martinique
Dear Comrades!
We learn with enthusiasm the news of the fighting and prolonged struggle your people against the extreme exploitation, against poverty and austerity policies imposed by the French colonial government, against the force of the upper middle class to pay its own crisis the masses, workers and youth.
The bourgeois media tell us that what is happening in Guadeloupe and Martinique is "the operation of certain social problems by irresponsible groups of thugs and rioters." But we know that this is a great popular mobilization and legitimate, because you, like us, those "from below" are tired of poverty, exploitation, the repression and lies of those "from above".
In Greece we have recently experienced extraordinary revolt of youth and workers against anti-popular government of Karamanlis, after the murder of a young student Alexis Grigoropoulos by police on 6 December 2009. Hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated for three weeks in dozens of cities in their rage against the system that kills the future of the vast majority of the people and serves a handful of capitalist profiteers.
Here too the government and the bourgeois media accused us of "thugs and rioters" and called "the restoration of order", hundreds of demonstrators, mostly young, were arrested and dozens are still in prison. But everything has changed since December in Greece: now there are thousands of new activists and the bourgeoisie has lost a generation hardened in the struggle against repression and exploitation.
Dear Comrades!
Your struggle is ours too. We cry with you: Enough with the operation, with the exorbitant prices of products and essential services. We will not pay for their crisis! Victory in the popular mobilization!
